Juju On That Beat
On Monday afternoon it was a senior syndicate assembly where room 9 hosted it. Nobody was expecting anything out of the ordinary until room 9 called up three people from each class to participate in a challenge. The challenge was the dance 'Juju On That Beat' to see who from each class could dance the best. When it was my classrooms turn Quros, Samuel and Mika volunteered to dance. The music began to play and I couldn't help but laugh through the whole performance. Everything was so hilarious especially Mika dancing put a smile on my face throughout the rest of the day.

Duffy Award
On Monday I received a Duffy book for scoring 10/10 in my reading test with Mrs Golder. Mrs Vickers had said to choose a boy and a girl although Mrs Golder chose me and Athens instead. I got to personally pick out my book since I received what was suppose to be the boys book. In the end I chose a book titled 'Beswitched'. It's really interesting so far - about a girl who was summoned by girls from the past on her way to her new boarding school. And I am really glad to have received this award, because it's probably the best book Iv'e read in a long time.

Manaiakalani Film Festival
I couldn't wait to watch all the hard working movies that our school and others put effort into for the last term.
Encouraging cheers came from other students as the film festival started. Some films were about the Olympics like ours and others were about what they had been achieving in class. I think that our movie we produced was by far the best, not because my class made it but just because it was. I really enjoyed seeing all the other schools' films and am going to miss coming to the Manaiakalani film festival next year. https://www.youtube.com/embed/8cDmWCfmI6w < (here is the link for the focuser)

Another Senior Syndicate Assembly
A few weeks ago Room 12 hosted yet another senior syndicate assembly. It was quite long because we had another Class Feud where Meana and Aydrian hosted it. All the classrooms stayed quiet as Meana asked the questions to the contestants who were participating and representing their classrooms. The Class Feud contained questions such as, "What is a dog;s favourite toy?" and others like that. The senior certificates were presented and then the prefects did a few reminders. Finally the assembly was over and back to class we went finishing off with maths for the day.

The Botanical Gardens

It was so beautiful as our bus pulled into the entrance, everything was just Wow the whole time we walked through the gardens. I loved all the colourful flowers we saw and the ponds were really pretty as well.
We were stuck in one particular place for ages because we kept missing numbers that we needed for our activity. Things started to get really frustrating because the sun was blazing hot and we were all so tired running back and fourths trying to find a tarata tree. In the end we were all puffed out we had to take a break by the roses.
Finally it was time to go back to school. I reckon everyone was exhausted from our visit at the Botanic Gardens because everyone was falling asleep including me.

Skipping Display 2016
Yesterday we had our 2016 skipping display. It started off with the junior and senior skip off to see who can skip the longest. It went on for quite a while but later on Room 9 couldn't jump much longer, leaving Room 12 the champions. Not many parents came to our skipping display so we just showcased our skipping skills in front of Room 11. It was really fun watching everybody show off what they can do with a skipping rope and even though, I was just twisting the ropes I became really tired.

Tamaki Primary

We went to Tamaki Primary by bus and was given a classroom to learn in, although we didn't have all our school resources so we had to do with a pen and paper.
Now we are back in our own school but somehow it still doesn't feel the same. Hopefully on our first day back after the holidays, we will be in our own classroom again and everything will go back to normal, just the way I like it.

Basketball
A few days ago we had Basketball lessons with a Coach. He taught us different warm ups to get us going. Although I personally thought the warm ups were enough because I was exhausted. We didn't quite get to play a proper game of Basketball because time went by so fast. My favorite warm up was simply bouncing the basketball and walking and taking my time before we had to run again.

Kahurangi
A few weeks ago a group called Kahurangi - People Of The Pacific, came to our school and performed traditional island dances. They taught us the greetings for the countries they were doing a dance to and told us a bit about each island. The show was really funny especially when the Kahurangi performers asked for volunteers. Mr Sok, Quros and Saluselo had to copy a few steps with the taiaha which was so funny, my face was turning bright red from laughter.

The Mini Olympics
Today we finally started our School's Mini Olympics. We were split into 16 groups to represent our 16 countries. I am in the group called Japan. When we were split into our groups, we had to go to different classes with other countries and do slides about our countries.

Planting
Yesterday my Class and I planted some plants outside our classroom. I think we did it for the bees to pollinate because we had just finished learning about them. The plants we planted looked like grass and the other ones we planted was a different sort of flower. We each picked a plant to plant and waited in line for the shovels. When it was my turn I dug a hole and inserted the plant, making sure the hole was big enough for the plant's roots. Then I started to fill the hole back up again with dirt and finally watered it. The ending result was okay.

Buddy Reading
For the past weeks we have had buddy reading with Room Seven. It's been fun getting to know all the students' names as well as listening to them read. For a change they came to our classroom and we read them books so it felt like we were the ones learning how to be better readers. Reading with Room 7 has been fun.

Maths Assesment
Today after morning tea my class and I sat a Maths test. We split our desks up like usual when we have a test and soon were passed our test sheets. The test was basically what we had been learning over the past weeks. I think I got a lot of questions wrong because I didn't read the questions properly. Some of the questions asked were: what the time was, what the perimeter or area of the shape was and the rest were estimation questions. Forty-five minutes passed and I finally finished the test. I'm hoping that I received a good mark and that I didn't get the lowest score.

Back To School
Today's the first day of Term 2, meaning back to school, YAY! We hadn't been long in class and we're already forgotten our pass words, but that got sorted straight away. Soon we started back on our Chromebooks and got working. Later it was time for a school assembly so we sang the national anthem, Mrs Vickers presented the Duffy books and back to class we go. For half an hour longer or so we continue working until the bell rings to go home.

Painting Our Self-Portrait
Over the weeks we had been working on a self-portrait of ourselves.
To start off our self-portrait we firstly sketched ourselves on a big piece of paper. When we were done we were only allowed to pick one colour for painting, I of course chose purple then the other colours we were to use were white and black. The way you were suppose to paint your painting was dark and light shades mixing the one colour you had chosen with black and white, although some people had used more than one colour. Soon enough after doing all these things my painting was complete.

Healthy Food Choices
A few weeks ago we made a video about making a salad for Healthy Food Choices. The ingredients we used were lettuce, cucumber, tomato, cream cheese and grated carrots. It was a very easy recipe where all you had to do was combine your ingredients into a bowl and ta-da that was your healthy salad done. The video however took ages because we kept forgetting what we were suppose to say or just mucking up continuously. But in the end everything turned out okay and we had finally finished creating our healthy foods video.

Mrs Pine The Maths Teacher
Last Week Mrs Pine came into our class to teach us and show different skills on how to solve Maths problems. Now she has been in our class twice and we have learnt a new game called 4-4s. The way you play is by using every mathematical symbol you can think of by only using 4-4s as in 4, 4, 4, 4. It's quite hard as you have to think of every multiplication using 4-4s up to 20. In the end I solved every number for 4-4s except for 10, 14, 15 and 18.

Celebrity Show Awards
On Monday my class and I presented our Celebrity Show Awards video in assembly. It didn't take a long time to make as everybody worked together and it only took a day to film and put together. The Celebrity Show Awards was about behind the scenes of Katy Perry getting ready to perform her hit single "Roar". I played as Katy Perry's personal make up artist which was really fun.

Duffy Theater
Today the Duffy Theater people came to our school and put on a show for us. The show was mainly about Duffy traveling back in time to make sure that his neighbor Ruby who was 81 years old went to school, learnt how to read and that her dad wasn't killed in World War Two. On the way he sang some songs and visited a different year by accident where he met a ninja and was given a ninja costume to wear as well. In the end he saved Ruby's dad and made sure Ruby went to school as well as learn how to read.

Tabloids
On Wednesday afternoon was tabloids where we were playing for fun with vitamins and minerals including broccoli, lemon, coconut, carrots, potatoes and oranges. There were many different activities and 8 groups where we were divided in to. I was in the 8th group and my first activity was with Mrs Golder playing with broccoli going under and over. It wasn't that difficult although it was hard playing with the little kids as they weren't sure what to do at times in all of the activities. My favorite activity was Mr Reid's where you had to throw a ball at a coconut that was on a pole and try and knock it off, I didn't knock the coconut off in the end but there is always next time.

First Day Back At School
School had finally started after having the 6-7 week holiday. Since then it was quite difficult for me as I had started a new class, new teacher and was getting use to everything that is expected all at the same time. Although we didn't do much on the first day we still had our first assembly as a school and settled into our new classroom. Soon we started work on our Chromebooks and looked at our new class blog for Room 12 2016. Then at 2:45 school ended for the first day back.
